Andre Dickens says he's polling first in mayor's race

The Atlanta race for mayor is heating up and Atlanta City Councilman Andre Dickens likes his chances.

His campaign team released a memo last week stating that he's polling in first place among his competitors; this is according to a survey conducted by the strategic marketing firm Lester & Associates.

According to the memo, 600 likely Democratic Atlanta voters were surveyed, and Dickens had 18 percent of voter's support. Former Mayor Kasim Reed and City Councilman Antonio Brown both had 13 percent each, City Council President Felicia Moore had 11 percent, and Attorney Sharon Gay polled at 10 percent. Thirty-six percent of those surveyed said they were undecided.

Dickens is an Adamsville native and a graduate of both Mays High School and Georgia Tech. He has served as the Post 3 At-Large City Council member since he was first elected to the position in 2013, and is currently chair of the council's transportation committee.
