Anti-police brutality protestors arrested following Fulton DA decision

Seven protestors were arrested yesterday at an anti-police brutality rally, according to a Tweet released by Atlanta Jail Support.

Rally attendees were reportedly peacefully protesting the reinstatement of the two officers that were fired for tasing an AUC couple during last summer’s protests downtown. Both officers were rehired with back pay earlier this week.

They were also protesting Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ request to reassign the case of Rayshard Brooks to another prosecutor.

Willis has alleged that former Fulton County DA, Paul Howard used the case as a campaign prop during last year’s election, which has made it impossible for her to prosecute it.

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr, who was appointed by former Governor Nathan Deal, now has the power to choose which Georgia county the case will be prosecuted in. He can also have his office try the case.
