Biden pushes Bottoms to half a million at virtual fundraiser

Story by: Olivia Williams

Over $500,000 was raised for Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms' re-election campaign thanks to a virtual fundraiser headlined by President Joe Biden, according to a source in the Bottoms campaign.

This was the first fundraiser that President Biden attended since becoming president, and it was assumed to be a token of appreciation for Bottoms' staunch support of him during the presidential primaries.

Bottoms endorsed Biden in July 2019, and was one of the first Democrats to endorse the then-candidate in the presidential race. In addition to the early endorsement, Bottoms also campaigned for him in Iowa, and worked on his behalf in spin rooms after Democrat debates.

The March 26th virtual event served as the official launch of Bottom's reelection campaign for mayor. According to the invite, tickets ranged from $10,000 for "co-hosts" to $100 for young professionals.

The fundraiser will undoubtedly be a huge boost for Bottoms as she prepares to take on Atlanta City Council President, Felicia Moore in the race for mayor this November.
