Mz. Skittlez is Leading the Gurl Mobb

Story by: Lucky Ezeinuaku

In industry circles, she's known as the manager of internet sensation, B. Simone, but Mary Seats, popularly known as Mz. Skittlez, is a boss in her own right.

In 2019, she launched her very own women-only membership club, Gurl Mobb, which is a global forum for young female entrepreneurs to interact with other female entrepreneurs and expand their businesses. The membership club offers monthly business webinars, access to vendor list, and girls trips to destinations all across the world.

Ms. Skittlez is also CEO of her own marketing firm, The Icing Ageny, and she created a successful clothing brand known as Cupcake Mafia with a starting capital of just $300. The business is currently valued at $2.7 million, and she has been able to open new doors for budding entrepreneurs along the way.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, police violence, and economic and racial inequality, there are immense challenges when it comes to achieving business success as a Black entrepreneur. However, these hurdles do not seem to hold Mz. Skittlez back.

She recently partnered with B. Simone to launch The Bakery, an all-female co-working space in Atlanta. B. Simone's "B. Simone Beauty" and Mz. Skittlez' "Icing Agency" will share the 14,000 square foot building.

Despite all the hats Mz. Skittlez may wear, it's clear that providing opportunities for Black women is at the forefront of her mission. She's mentioned the obstacles that she faced on her way up, with no one to help her on the road to being her own boss, which is why it's dope that she's now opening doors for other Black woman entrepreneurs.
